Chapter Thirteen

Gwen

It’s been two days of silence. Thank God for the voices in my head or else I might have gone a little crazy by this point.

My emotions swing back and forth rapidly as my energy builds, knowing a manic episode is coming. I just need to hold out a little longer. I stand and stretch my aching muscles. Needing to move around. I’ve felt around every inch of the small space, which is about the size of a small storage closet, unable to find anything.

“You’ll have to get the first guy’s weapons,” George says as he paces alongside me. I nod my head in agreement.

“You’ll need more than that,” Jack grunts. “You got three guys at the door, but at least a handful more somewhere else. After seeing what you can do, he might have called in back up by now.” Jack finishes.

“Fuck,” I mutter. He has a point, although I by no means played all my cards, Marčelo knows now that I can at least hold my own.

Plus, I need to find Marčelo’s office. I need to get as much information as possible about all his clients and where he’s holding the kids and women he’s been selling. I’m not leaving this building without every last fucking name.

My thoughts are interrupted when the lock clicks over and the door opens. Light shining in, I hiss and scrunch my face tightly. It’s far too bright after days of pure blackness.

“Are you sure this is okay?” One guy whispers to the other.

“Yeah, he said we could help ourselves. I don’t know about you, but I plan on taking advantage of that. She’s fucking hot.” He grunts back as he nods to me, where I stand in the corner. My large dirty t-shirt hanging almost to my knees.

“Yeah, all right. I’ll hold her for you.” He murmures as they close the door and flicks on a flashlight.

What they didn’t notice while they were deciding what they were going to do is that I am no longer in front of them. So, when they shine the light on the spot I was, they don’t expect me to come up behind them. Grabbing the Beretta out of his back waistband before cold clocking him, he immediately drops to the floor. Before the one who planned to rape me even has time to turn around, I’ve got a bullet in his head.

The door flies open at the sound of the gunfire. I turn and see two more guards rushing in. I get one shot off before I’m tackled to the ground. Wrapping my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck, I squeeze both. I use my legs as leverage as I crank my arms tighter, choking him out. Within seconds, he’s out and my gun is up and pointing at the first guard, who’s holding his shoulder and hissing in pain. I shoot him again, this time getting him between the eyes.

Pushing the guard off me, I stand then slowly make my way into the hallway.
